Buckingham Community Center Rental Information/Agreement

Buckingham-Appomattox State Forest, with its 19,687 acres, offers outdoor recreation to local residents. Holiday Lake State Park is located within the state forest and offers camping, picnicking, swimming, boating and hiking within the park's boundaries. For more information, call (434) 248-6308.

James River State Park, with 1,500 acres along the James River, offers picnicking, primitive camping, RV camping with a bathhouse, nearly 17 miles of trails for hiking, hiking and horseback riding, and three miles of river frontage with two boat ramps.James River State Park is located in the western tip of the County, across the river from Nelson County. For more information about this beautiful park or to make reservations for a specific activity at the park, please call (434) 933-4355.

Horsepen Lake Management Area operated by the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, is situated near Rt. 60, off of Rt. 638. The area totals 3,065 acres of mostly forested land cen­tered by an 18 acre lake, and offers fishing, hunting, boating, hiking and picnicking.
