Buckingham County's location in the Commonwealth of Virginia is ideal for economic development, industry, and prospective business. Buckingham County is considered the "geographic heart of Virginia," with Mount Rush (located at the VA 24 and U.S. 60 corridor) being the geographic center of the State. Buckingham is surrounded by three major growth areas: Charlottesville to the north, Lynchburg to the southwest, and Farmville to the south. These localities are all within an hour's drive of Buckingham, making it easy and fast to get to the destination.

Buckingham County, with a total land area of 581 sq. miles, is located in Virginia's Heartland. The county seat is located on U.S. 60, about four miles from the intersection of US. 15 and U.S. 60. Buckingham County is bordered to the north by the James River and the northwest by the Blue Ridge Mountains.
