Agriculture has always been a vital part of Buckingham County and continues to be. According to the 2002 Census data, there are 389 farms in Buckingham County. In Buckingham County, there are 81,150 acres of real estate that is farmland. There are 21,638 acres of farmland that is harvested cropland. In 2002, $1,896,000 was made off of crops, $18,358,000 was made off of livestock, totaling a $38,612,000 made in agriculture production. Buckingham County is ranked number 32 out of the 96 counties in Virginia that make ranking.
